Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership® (QIAL®)
QIAL Transition
The IIA is committed to providing a clearly defined, professionally relevant suite of global certifications to support internal auditors as they progress through their careers.
Due to the ongoing challenges faced by the IIA related to the QIAL program, we recently conducted a global market study and sought input about the QIAL program and the internal audit leadership development program. The resounding conclusion of this research is that we must focus on the Certified Internal Auditor® (CIA®) as our profession’s essential certification. As a result, the Global Board approved a resolution to discontinue the QIAL®.
If you currently hold an active QIAL certification, your designation will:
- Remain valid.
- Be supported by The IIA through training.
- Continue to demonstrate your acumen when you report annual continued professional education (CPE) credits.
In-Process Candidates
If you have applied for and are currently in the process of obtaining your QIAL, we encourage you to continue your efforts and obtain your certification. If you choose to continue the journey, you will have until 31 December 2022 to complete the program. Once you earn the certification, it will remain a valid designation supported and recognized by The IIA as long as you earn and report the necessary continuing professional education (CPE) hours each year.
In-Process candidates may inquire about their program be emailing QIAL@Theiia.org directly.
Exam Security
The IIA, the Professional Certifications Board, and Pearson VUE take exam security seriously because the value of your certification depends on it. That’s why IIA Global created an Exam Security Team to enhance processes and procedures and increase investigative measures to protect The IIA’s exam intellectual property (IP).
Unauthorized possession, reproduction, publication, or disclosure of any examination materials, including storing or disclosing examination questions to any person or entity by any means before, during, or after the examination, is prohibited by copyright laws and can result in candidate disqualification or another appropriate censure. Studying from recalled test content is also improper and can lead to severe penalties. If you are aware that an exam has been exposed, do not purchase such materials. Report the incident to The IIA at examsecurity@theiia.org. Additional information can be found on the Exam Security page or within the Certification Handbook.
