The IIA’s Volunteer Facilitator Program is made possible by experienced Internal Audit practitioners who regularly utilize the tools and techniques supported by The IIA. Partnering our expert facilitators with The IIA’s relevant and timely course materials, provides IIA members, and non-members with a valuable learning experience.

To become involved as a Facilitator, all interested candidates must submit an application. All applications will be reviewed by the Faculty Engagement Team and if accepted, candidates will receive an invitation to attend the three-day Facilitator Training Course.

Qualifications

To apply to the Facilitator Training Course, all candidates must meet the following criteria;

Be a member of The IIA prior to attending the course
Continue membership while facilitating for The IIA
Have a minimum of:
- Three years internal audit experience or,
- Three years of experience related to internal auditing, such as risk management, governance responsibilities etc. or,
- Five years supervisory/management outside of internal audit and one year of internal audit experience AND
- At least two years presentation and/or training experience, AND
Be an active Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)

The Role

As a Facilitator, practitioners instruct on behalf of The IIA. The goal of the program is to use experienced internal audit practitioners to deliver content based on IIA professional standards and guidance, and to incorporate the instructor's experiences as applicable examples for the participants of the training course.

A typical Facilitator is scheduled twice annually to conduct an IIA training course either in-person or online. In advance of the training, the IIA Faculty Engagement Team will send out a call for preferences and availability bi-annually, and schedule faculty accordingly. For Facilitators who travel to a Seminar location site, travel expenses are covered by The IIA.
