About IIA Ghana

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is an international professional association with global headquarters in Lake Mary, Florida, USA. The IIA is the internal audit profession's global voice, recognized authority, acknowledged leader, chief advocate, and principal educator. Members work in internal auditing, risk management, governance, internal control, information technology audit, education, and security.

The Institute of Internal Auditors Ghana was formally registered in April 2001 in Ghana under the Professional Bodies Registration Decree, 1973 (NRCD 143) as a professional association dedicated to the promotion and development of the practice of Internal auditing in Ghana.

The Institute was formally inaugurated on Friday May 13, 2005 by the then Hon. Minister of Finance & Economic Planning on behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana.

The Institute is a fully-fledged member institute of the Global Internal Audit family. It also actively pursues collaboration and partnership with sister national institutes, particularly the African institutes. IIA Ghana is a founding member of AFIIA - the African Federation of Institutes of Internal Auditors, with its member being the immediate past Chairperson of the AFIIA Governing Council.

The Institute is operated exclusively for educational and charitable purposes as a professional association dedicated to the promotion and development of the practice of Internal Auditing in Ghana.

Our Goals

  • Provide, on a national scale, comprehensive professional development activities and standards for the practice of Internal Auditing and Certification;
  • Research, disseminate, and promote to members and to the public throughout Ghana, knowledge and information concerning Internal Auditing, including Internal Control and related subjects;
  • Establish meetings to educate members and others as to the practice of internal auditing as it exists in other countries and promote education in the field of Internal Auditing;
  • Bring together Internal Auditors from all organisations (Public and Private) to share information and experiences in Internal Auditing.
