The Institute in Perspective
The Institute was formally registered in April 2001 in Ghana under the Professional Bodies Registration Decree, 1973 (NRCD 143) as a professional association dedicated to the promotion and development of the practice of Internal auditing in Ghana.
The Institute was formally inaugurated on Friday May 13, 2005 by the then Hon. Minister of Finance & Economic Planning on behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana.
The Institute is a full-fledged member institute of the Global Internal Audit family. It also actively pursues collaboration and partnership with sister national institutes in particular the African institutes. IIA Ghana is a founding member of AFIIA - the African Federation of Institutes of Internal Audit, and currently the Chairperson for the AFIIA Governing Council.
As a knowledge-sharing platform, IIA Ghana has maintained very close links and collaboration with the Internal Audit Agency of Ghana - which is a statutory body created by the Government of Ghana, as part of its public governance improvement programme, to ensure the active and mandatory development and practice of internal audit as a key function in the Public Service of Ghana.
The IIA Ghana is only as good as the depth of knowledge & experience that its members will share with others and in turn as good as it serves its members with cutting edge information and new trends in the professional development and practice of internal auditing in line with global requirements. That is why we also look forward to you sharing your experiences with us and with our contemporaries in business and public service.
We also invite you to support the Institute's activities with your counsel and participation, as we project internal auditing as a key component of institutional governance in Ghana.
Remember, the good institution you are part of, may well be the source of your success in the future
